Where's your heart?

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Jesus spoke these words in the Sermon on the Mount and they speak of the importance of where we place our focus in life. Oswald Chambers writes,
Jesus said, "It is expedient for you that I go away" - in that relationship, so that He might lead them on. It is a joy to Jesus when a disciple takes time to step more intimately with Him. Fruit bearing is always mentioned as the manifestation of an intimate union with Jesus Christ (John 15:1-4).
Becoming more intimate with Jesus is to make Him the desire of our hearts.  So many things clamor for first place in our lives; only He deserves it.
Lord, be my treasure, as the hymn writer wrote:Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
Amen!
